Jim Ittenbach's Adventures in Soundproofing

Phase II:

Buying the carpet did little more than provide motivation to really research how the goal needed to be accomplished. As you may have Jim Ittenbach's soundproofingguessed Troubled Basement Studios is in the basement of a house. Since the basement is mostly underground the easiest point of failure to identify was the ceiling of the basement which provides a very easy channel for sound to escape. After researching on the Internet it was decided to purchase Ultra Touch cotton insulation to put in between the joists. After the insulation was put up 3 mil plastic was stapled up to prevent insulation dust from getting into the air. It was at this point that Rod Gervais' book was suggested. Chapter Four revealed a few mistakes that had been made already. Although correcting the issues required removing the insulation it had to be done.
